Pocky Advertisement

Okay, I think it's done? I'm not sure anymore because I've been staring at it for so long, but I think it looks finished. I'm tempted to try out a few backgrounds but I'm worried it'll start to look a bit too busy and I kind of like it simple. Either way I really need to look away from my screen for a while!

The Madness Of Crowds - Editorial

This editorial is about how Las Vegas is increasingly visited by two very different groups, the usual adults there to gamble etc and families on holiday.
I decided to focus on a particular quote from the article - 'Hit hard by recession, no longer do gamblers flow though the flashing mandibles of the gaming rooms like so many krill being sifted by an avaricious leviathan; and so the monsters of the deep have gone looking for smaller fish to fry'.
Again, I'm not too sure about the finished result, honestly I think maybe it's a little bit weird for a newspaper, but I might make a few changes over the weekend.

Work In Progress!

Some work in progress for an advertising brief promoting Pocky. I'm pretty much there with the characters, just need to work on a few small details and then I'll have to get to work on the text - which I am at the moment avoiding. There's something about drawing letters that just seems a bit dull!

Sun, Sea, Sand... And Sniffles

This week's editorial was about how people often get ill on the first day of their holidays and reasons for this. I plan to revisit this one later as there are a lot of things I don't like about it and generally think need to be done better (and the passport needs to look more like a passport).

Forget that for now though, there are crazy scientists and werewolves to be drawn!

Small Victories

More editorial work! This time the article is about how it's sometimes better to focus on the little things instead of the bigger things. I'm not totally happy with this, I'm not sure whether it's because it's too simple or it's the composition... or the whole idea.

Gustav The Mouse Competition

Here are a few illustrations I did last week for a competition about Gustav the Swedish mouse. I found out yesterday that I was unsuccessful, but I'm just happy to have done something that I can hopefully add to my portfolio (also the mouse was very fun to draw) :)

Editorial Work

An illustration for article comparing interior design and self decoration. I wasn't sure about this piece at all whilst working on it, I was a little worried that maybe it seemed to be saying something about community or diversity - but I think it works okay in the context of the article.
